Recap of Menstrual Health Assembly at Rhodes Elementary

On Friday, September 13th, 2024, Gentle Gratitude proudly hosted it's first menstrual health assembly at Rhodes Elementary as a part of our Flow Freedom Project. This event marks a signifanct milestone in our mission to promote menstrual health and hygiene through education and resources. In collaboration with Rhodes Elementary, we established a Menstrual Hygiene Hub to provide menstruating students with free menstrual products and menstrual education.
The assembly, facilitated by Penn Reproductive Justice, provided vital information on menstrual health to 4th-8th grade girls. As part of the assembly, each student received a specially curated menstrual care bag that included a pack of pads, wipes, a sanitary napkin pouch, an emergency pad kit, and 10 extra pads to ensure continued support. In total, Gentle Gratitude has provided 262 prepackaged menstrual care packs and 2,297 pads to Rhodes.
Flow Freedom Expansion
Due to the success of the program at Rhodes Elementary, Gentle Gratitude provided menstrual product donations to eight more schools: Bartram High School, Harambee Charter School, Strawberry Mansion High School, Excel Middle Years Academy, Crossroads Elementary, Bluford Elementary, LongStreth Elementary, and Philadelphia Learning Academy West!

What We Do

Our annual school supply giveaway in Southwest & West Philadelphia where we distribute over 300 backpacks filled with essential supplies to local residents, ensuring students are equipped for academic success.

We partner with rescue food organizations to reallocate fresh groceries to food-insecure households, ensuring access to nutritious meals for those in need.

We got our start by hosting a coat drive in 2021, collecting over 300 donated coats. This initiative evolved into an annual holiday giveaway for children, providing them with new toys and coats during the holiday season.
